New White House VA Hotline is Up and Running
Posted on December 04 2017
According to an article from the Department of Veteran Affairs, the White House's VA hotline is now live. This line will be monitored 24/7 by a live staff member, comprising of 90% veterans or family members of veterans.
This is the VA’s first non-clinical, non-emergency around-the-clock call center. They will be charged with answering inquiries, provide directory assistance, document concerns about VA care, benefits and services, and expedite the referral and resolution of those concerns.
As a veteran myself, this seems almost overkill. Maybe because I live in Texas and Texas has a plethora of free and local resources to help veterans navigate the VA's system. Ont op of that, many of these positions are required to have veteran status.
To me, this seems like one of those campaign promises that's easy to do but ultimately wastes resources by doubling services we may not need.
